About Beryl

Raised by Deaf parents, who are now retired from the North American Mission Board, Beryl Corey got first-hand experience watching them give their lives in ministry to the Deaf community. As a result of her upbringing and ministry calling, she also serves the Deaf Community today. For the past 13 years, she has worked in the mental health field, individual and family counseling, and biblical counseling.

Since 2001, Beryl has served as the Director of Special Ministries with Brentwood Baptist Deaf Church. Both bi-cultural and bilingual, she is a member of the North American Association of Christian Social Work (NACSW) and the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID), and has held a Licensed Master of Social Work with the State of Tennessee since 1999.

Beryl graduated from North Carolina State University with a B.A. in Communications in 1988 and from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Masters in Social Work in 1995. Her master’s study included bridging the gap between the Deaf and hearing communities, finding the resources for the Deaf, providing a confidential setting for clients, and counseling in the American Sign Language.

Beryl is married to Scott Corey, who also works with the Deaf Community in Vocational Rehabilitation and is the Student Minister at Brentwood Baptist Deaf Church.
